I don't know about the gemara. But it does raise some substative questions.

The sefer haYashar in question is a midrashic work first published in 1625. But what is its source for it? For it does not seem to appear in earlier Jewish sources, and least written ones. On the other hand, the Koran identifies Potifar's wife as Zuleika.

and the midrash there (I did not see it inside) apparently also echoes other aspects of the story. So is such a midrash legitimate? I'll have to check this out inside (bli neder).

actually, scratch that. the Koran does not mention that name, but does mention the story. Where the name occurs in Muslim legend, I am not sure, though it does.

ספר הישר - ספר מדרש בדרך סיפור, כל המאורעות והמעשיות אשר קרו לאבותינו מימות אדם הראשון ומלחמות בני יעקב עם הכנענים עד אחר יציאת מצרים, סיפורים מספר במדבר ודברים ויהושע עד ימי השופטים. מיוחס לר' יוסף בן גוריון הכהן.
יש מהקדמונים הקוראים לו "דברי הימים הארוך", ולפי דברי ההקדמה נקרא בשם "תולדות אדם".
הילקוט מביאו, רבנו בחיי בפ' וישלח מזכירו בפשיטות, והרמב"ן קורא לו ספר "מלחמות בני יעקב", ונראה כמסתפק במהימנותו, כי אמר "ואם נאמין בספר מלחמות בני יעקב".

מקורותיו הם התלמוד, בראשית רבה, פרקי דר"א, דברי ימי משה, יוסיפון, מדרש אבכיר ואגדות ערביות. כנראה נערך הספר במאה התשיעית או העשירית. מה שכתוב בהקדמת הספר כי הספר הזה נמצא ע"י הגמוני טיטוס בירושלים, זו המצאת המו"ל בנאפולי, שם נדפס הספר בראשונה בשנת 1552
